Safety around large vehicles is everybody's responsibility. The professional truck driver is trained to look for people, motorcycles, cars, bicycles and other moving and non-moving objects that present a hazard to the driver or to themselves, but the view from a large vehicle can often be misleading or obstructed because so much depends on the side mirrors. There are "blind spots" in the driver's range of vision where people and small vehicles can momentarily hide. Only by being aware of this proble m can drivers, other motorists and pedestrians work together to make the environment around a large vehicle safe for everyone.
