On a foggy morning, ‘Ol’ Blue’â made its way to
the Triad Elementary School of 425 students. Rain
conditions from the previous day caused concern
for the travels to the school as the country road
was only 9 to 10 feet wide.
Over four hundred students and a very active Principal,
Mr. Craig Meredith, along with law enforcement and
emergency vehicles, greeted ‘Ol’ Blue’.

Mr. Meredith placed his car in the front blind
spot of the trucker, where along side ‘Ol’ Blue’
was the Sheriff’s squad in order for students to
be aware that in this spot, the driver cannot see
the vehicle, it’s in a blind spot.

Deputy Aaron Brown from the Champaign County Sheriff’s
Department stood in front of ‘Ol’ Blue’ so the students
could see the distance in front of large vehicle
needed in order to see an object.
Under the Ol’ Blue, USA program, “Big Wheels,
Little Kids” school visitation program takes ‘Ol’
Blue’ to schools to give students an up close and
personal view of the safety considerations around
large vehicles, car drivers, bicycles, and pedestrians.
