The afternoon of May 17th was clear of fog but
the rains that were around for days returned to
Ohio. Most of the question and answer sessions of
the Ol’ Blue, USA’s Big Wheels, Little Kids program
was held inside the school’s gymnasium
Deputy Aaron Brown from the Champaign County Sheriff’s
Department assisted RJ Taylor in answering questions
about being safe around large vehicles without the
assistance of the visible piece of equipment, ‘Ol’
Blue’. This was extremely how to due but with the
help and patience of the students, teachers and
Deputy Brown, the program still had an extreme impact
as a learning tool of education.

One student asked a very important question, “Can
you demonstrate a blind spot to us?” Leaving RJ
and Deputy Brown searching for an answer without
a visible too, RJ quickly stepped behind the Deputy,
crouching down saying “can you see me now, can you
see me now?” The whole class responded “no” .. RJ
replied, “Now that’s a blind spot.” Laughter exploded
in the gymnasium.

Upon leaving school for the day, the rains eased
and the students prior to getting on their buses
to return home, were able to view ‘Ol’ Blue’ along
with asking several additional questions of RJ Taylor
and other guests whom were present at the time.
Under the Ol’ Blue, USA program, “Big Wheels,
Little Kids” school visitation program takes ‘Ol’
Blue’ to schools to give students an up close and
personal view of the safety considerations around
large vehicles, car drivers, bicycles, and pedestrians.
