Blue, USA (United Safety Alliance,
Inc.), a non-profit organization
that promotes highway safety
among large vehicles and works
to foster relations between
the motoring public, law enforcement
and commercial drivers –
has been honored with several
communications awards.
The recognitions were presented
earlier this year, at the
Mid-America Trucking Show
in Louisville, KY, during
the Truck Writers of North
America’s Trucking Industry
Awards Banquet. TWNA
created the annual event to
provide a forum for recognizing
the positive contributions
by those in trucking, made
both within the industry,
and to the community at large.
An integral part of the banquet
is the TWNA
Communication Awards,
an annual program to recognize
excellence in trucking industry
journalism in both the trade
and the mainstream press,
as well as excellence in communication
by public relations professionals.
Ol’ Blue, USA earned

This year’s TWNA Communication
Awards award, which honored
communications from 2004,
generated more than 60 entries,
from a wide range of media
and included categories for
writing, graphics, broadcast,
websites and internal communications.
TWNA is an organization of
professionals who are involved
in gathering, writing and
reporting news and information
about trucks, trucking and
the trucking industry. Its
main goals include improving
communications within the
trucking industry and ensuring
that this industry is portrayed
in a balanced, accurate manner
in the mass media.
Founded in 1986, Ol’
Blue, USA is a non-profit
501 (c)(3) organization that
works toward its goals of
promoting highway safety education
and fostering relations between
the motoring public, law enforcement
and commercial drivers by
conducting free programs at
truck industry events, truck
stops, community events and
public schools around the
country, and through its various
programs on trucker’s
radio heard throughout North
America.

during Ol’ Blue, USA’s
annual Safety Tour with its
1951 tractor and 53-foot “rolling
billboard” trailer.
This trailer showcases sponsor
logos and serves as the stage
for the Ol’ Blue team’s
mock truck inspections and
other safety demonstrations.
