MICHELIN PUBLIC SAFETY VIDEO AVAILABLE ON Ol’ Blue, USA's WEB SITE

August 2003 – GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ol’ Blue USA, a non-profit public charity dedicated to educating the nation on highway safety, has posted “The Critical Factor: Maintaining Control in a Rapid Air Loss Situation,” a public service video provided by Michelin Americas Truck Tires, to the charity’s Web site, http://www.olblueusa.org/video/streaming/tire_blowout.html

The video teaches drivers how to best maintain control when a tire experiences rapid air loss. Approximately 10-minutes in length, the video explains how rapid air loss can influence the way a tractor-trailer behaves and how to compensate for any changes in handling. Copies of the video are also directly available from Michelin Americas Truck Tires and can be ordered by using the “Contact Us” form on the company’s Web site at www.michelintruck.com.

Many drivers have posted messages on various driver Web sites about the video. A typical posting is one from Lynn Marker, Lackawanna, N.Y., which says, “The Ol’ Blue, USA team and Michelin have presented a winner! The video is very informative and well done. It presents safety information in such a way as to be easily understood by most people.”

Founded in 1986, Ol’ Blue, USA (United Safety Alliance, Inc), a non-profit 501 (c)(3) public charity, is dedicated to educating the nation on highway safety and improving relations between law enforcement officials, commercial drivers and the motoring public. During the National Safety Tour, Ol’ Blue, a 1951 working truck, pulls a 53-foot “rolling billboard” trailer featuring the charity’s sponsors, including Michelin, and those of the California Highway Patrol and the U.S. Department of Transportation. In addition, Ol’ Blue, USA, conducts simulated truck inspections at trade shows and truck stops, and takes various programs to community events and public schools in an effort to teach safety all around large vehicles.

Michelin manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks and the space shuttle. The company also publishes travel guides, maps and atlases covering Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America (www.michelin.com ) employs 24,640 and operates 22 plants in 18 locations.
