Sergeant Pete Camm

Sergeant Pete Camm has been with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) since graduating from the CHP Academy in January 1981. He has been assigned to Commercial Vehicle Section (CVS) since 1996 and is currently assigned to CVS' Credentialing Unit. Among other things, this unit oversees driver licensing, vehicle registration, interstate and intrastate registration and operating authority, NAFTA - as it pertains to transportation, and port security.
Sgt. Camm's initial assignment as a CHP officer was El Centro area. After completing his CHP Commercial Training in June 1982, he was transferred to the Sidewinder Platform Scale. He promoted to sergeant in April 1999.
Sgt. Camm is a member of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's (CVSA) Driver-Traffic Enforcement and North American Inspectors Championship Committees and the Northern California Rail Road Safety Committee. He serves as liaison with CA DMV, Caltrans, BOE (IFTA), FMCSA and FHWA. He assisted the International Association of Chiefs of Police and FMCSA to develop a NAFTA training course for U.S. law enforcement personnel.
